Fool Me Once- Episode 5 Summary & Recap
More information from the long lost nephew
The episodes starts off with Maya waking up from a nightmare. Eva was at the door and told her that her ex-husband has hacked into her nanny cam. This raises suspicions on whether someone planted the footage of Joe to mess with Maya. Maya then got Shane to look into her WiFi, but there doesn’t seem to be any suspicious activity.
Meanwhile, Abby joined the DNA app to find her half-brother and eventually agreed to meet him. The boy turns out to be Louis, a worker in her football team. He had known Claire for a while, but did not dare to approach Abby and Dan. According to Louis, Claire asked him to pretend to be an interested student at a posh school one day. It was like a secret mission, but Claire was murdered the next day.
Knowing this information might be important, Abby called Maya and told her that the posh school start with an “F” like Frank. Maya happened to be at the Burkett’s house and discovered that Andrew and Joe’s high school is the Franklin Biddle Academy. She immediately went there to investigate.
What is wrong with Detective Kierce?
At the school, Maya met with the headmaster an asked about Claire. At first he was tight-lipped but Maya started threatening about the donations the Burketts made to the school. Headmaster Lockwood eventually revealed that Claire was enquiring about the death of a boy named Theo Mara. Theo was close to both Andrew and Joe and died just 6 weeks before Andrew.
The poor boy died from alcohol poisoning, after he was force-fed alcohol during a celebration after a big win. Lockwood seems to believe that Andrew committed suicide after Theo’s death because they were close. Maya then tracked down Theo’s parents, but Theo’s mom had a different theory. She believed that Andrew committed suicide due to guilt- which means that Andrew had something to do with Theo’s death.
Meanwhile, Detective Kierce finally received his test results, in which he turns out to have a degenerative brain, and there is no cure. Devastated, he told Molly that he could not proceed with the wedding and thought of committing suicide. Thankfully, Nicole was there to support him. During this time, the detective did not answer any of Marty’s calls and Marty proceeded to look further into PJ, Phil’s son.
Maya and Corey team up
Out of a sudden, Maya received a call from the arcade, indicating that Corey wanted to meet. Corey could only find out that Tommy made a failed transaction at a storage unit a month ago. The two then drove to the storage and found Tommy’s body there.
That was after Corey revealed that Burkett Pharmaceuticals is involved in a lot of unethical practice and causing deaths throughout the world.
Additional Observations From Episode 5
- The detectives approached Eddie about his lie on his alibi. According to Eddie, he was charmed by a woman but felt ashamed because Claire had just passed.
- When Detective Kierce asked Maya why Joe always sponsors Phil’s football team, Maya told him that it was in support of Abby’s team.
