From messages to voice
Roch ran back home and thankfully, the twins were alright. However, the app still wouldn’t leave her alone. When Roch used the app to scan through the room, Gloria’s apparition appeared once again. That night, Roch slept with the twins to keep them safe. The next day, the app started talking to Roch using Gloria’s voice. This is presumably because the app had been tracking the surrounding the sounds and have “overheard” Roch watching a video of her mother.
Needless to say, Roch felt guilty about kissing Noah and sent some text to her friends to apologize. However, when she met Anthony, Anthony revealed that he never got any of them. Instead, the messages he received were horrible and he claimed that Roch posted the video of her kissing Noah on social media. That was when Roch knew that her entire phone has been hijacked.
Seeking help
As she can no longer rely on her phone, Roch wrote Wren a long letter explaining the event of the Red Rose app. The met up face to face, but Wren did not believe her and thought Roch was using this as an excuse rather than admitting that she was wrong. Wren also angrily told Roch to get an exorcism if what she said is true. The next day, Roch’s phone posted the video of Roch arguing with Wren on social media.
The meeting did not end well, but Roch was losing her mind and tried an exorcism in church. However, the app interfered yet again. It showed the reflection of Roch in church with Gloria’s apparition behind walking towards. Roch was spooked out. She went back home, played some loud music and soaked herself in the bath. Then, her phone started playing its own music.
Meanwhile, her other friends were discussing about her latest behaviour. Wren complained that Roch kept blaming it on Red Rose and did not believe her. But Noah stepped in and said Roch told him that she had to kiss him because of Red Rose. Anthony mentioned that Roch did not seem to get their texts as well.
Realizing something is off, the Dickheads group rushed to Roch’s home to see if she is in trouble. Just as they were banging on her door, the app posted on behalf of Roch on her social media again. Therefore, everyone believes that she was fine.
Aftermath
When Roch’s father Vinny, later came home with the twins, they found her dead in the bathtub. It was not clear whether she was killed or committed suicide. Wren felt extremely devastated and guilty about what happened. She started believing Roch’s earlier cry for help and told everyone in the funeral that Roch did not kill herself.
After the funeral, the five friends gathered. As they were walking, Wren received a message from Rochelle’s phone. It has a link that directed her to download the red Rose app. Wren decided to find out for herself, what happened to Roch. She downloaded the app and the “Welcome to the new you” page comes up.
Additional Observations From Episode 2
- Roch tried to uninstall the app, but it reappears.
- Gloria died by committing suicide.
