Alice In Borderland - Season 2 Episode 4 Summary & Recap

Jack of Hearts will make his move

Desperate now to find out his suit, Chishiya hung out in the cafeteria. When Matsushita (Kai Inowaki) entered to get some snack, Chishiya tried to exchange suits with him. Chishiya even went out of his way to inform Matsushita that Banda was a well-known murderer back in their previous world. But Matsushita was still unwilling to trade information and instead lied to Chishiya that his suit is Clubs although Chishiya had Diamonds. Next, Kotoko came in to get the same snack but Kotoko was completely unwilling to talk to Chishiya. During that time, Yaba and Banda had a conversation in the toilet. Before the time is up, both Kotoko and Matsushita lied to their partners.

Game clear

After an hour, its now time to guess. Chishiya knew Matsushita lied to him and his suit would very likely have changed since the last round. So, he had to take a 50-50 guess between the two remaining suits. At the end of the round, Matsushita came out thinking that he had won but surprisingly, Banda, Yaba and Chishiya came out alive as well. They now know that Matsushita is the Jack of Hearts.

Matsushita and Kotoko had a secret alliance where they will verify their suits using the snack packaging, but in this round Matsushita lied to Kotoko and made Kotoko lie to Yaba as well. Banda and Yaba managed to form a last minute alliance and survived but Kotoko relied on Matsushita, causing her to call out the wrong suit even though Yaba told her the truth. Yaba and Banda tried to torture Matsushita to get more information about the world before the round is up again. Unfortunately, Matsushita kept a tight lip and died by calling out the wrong suit.

The film

On Arisu’s side, Kuina decided to leave the group to find Ann and Chishiya as she worry for their safety. During this time, Arisu was still devastated but Usagi managed to get cheer him up by catching rabbits together with him for food. Suddenly, they heard a loud sound and got out of the forestry area towards the road. There, they saw plenty of dead bodies around what seemed like live-in vans. This is most likely the King of Spades killing again. They found a dying man outside his van telling them the words “film” and so, Arisu and Usagi went inside his van to find a 8mm film where the dying journalist had recorded.

In the film, everyone seemed to have recalled seeing fireworks before they were transported into the new world. The journalist met a woman who had holes drilled into her skull from a surgery. This woman seemed to recall what had happened. However, just as she mentioned that those were not actually fireworks, the King of Spades shot her and the surrounding people dead.

King of Spades strikes

Suddenly, the King of Spades attacked our main characters again causing Arisu and Usagi to run into the woods. There, Arisu tried to protect Usagi by distracting the King of Spades, but this separated the two. After a wild chase, Arisu eventually rolled down a cliff. He was ready to die but the King of Spades ended up firing at someone else.

Without much hesitation, he took the opportunity to run but was knocked out by someone. When he woke up, there was a teenage girl next to him who claimed “that person” saved him. “That person” turns out to be Aguni, the military leader from Season 1.

Arisu was caught in the middle of the gunfire between the King of Spades and someone else.

Additional Observations From Episode 4

  • The journalist also recorded Ann who noticed that something is different about the vegetation in this new world. She believed that time is running differently here. Ann also noted that she would go outside of Tokyo to see what is going on.
